THREE ORGANIZATIONS. ONE VISION.

Friends Of Navdanya

FRIENDS OF NAVDANYA was created in 2010 to support and expand the work of Navdanya. Friends of Navdanya raises funds and makes grants to support projects undertaken by Navdanya on its farm and through its outreach programs in India. Such projects have included farmer training in organic farming (including women farmers), seed improvement and seed saving; the development and expansion of the Navdanya community seed banks throughout India; and the creation of organic gardens (Gardens of Hope) in rural and urban India. Friends of Navdanya also collaborates with Navdanya and Navdanya International on educational programs, campaigns, reports, and other activities to promote awareness and engagement with the Navdanya Movement. Navdanya

NAVDANYA is a women-centered movement created by Dr. Vandana Shiva 30 years ago in India to defend seed and food sovereignty and small farmers. Navdanya is a network of seed keepers and organic producers spread across 22 states in India. Navdanya has helped set up 122 community seed banks across the country, trained over 9,00,000 farmers in seed sovereignty, food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture over the past two decades, and helped setup the largest direct marketing, fair trade organic network in the country. Navdanya is a movement for the protection of biological and cultural diversity. Navdanya promotes a new agricultural and economic paradigm, a culture of food for health, where ecological responsibility and economic justice replace the present greed, consumerism and competition which have become dominant in society. Navdanya aims to restore the common good as a foundation for a renewed sense of community, solidarity and culture of peace. NAVDANAYA.ORG

Navdanya International

NAVDANYA INTERNATIONAL was founded in Italy in 2011 to strengthen Navdanya’s global outreach. Navdanya International has been at the forefront of showing connections between multiple crises in the global debate in a holistic perspective, while also connecting Navdanya's movements and actions on the ground. Its international campaigns, assemblies and advocacy actions have been focused on exploring the context of our food systems and their connections with soil, climate resilience, biodiversity, equity and social justice.
